Leaves of Gold

If we had not been paying attention on the chilly Monday morning drive to school & work, we would have missed it. The mid-November rising sun illuminated the colored autumn leaves in a most breathtaking and remarkable way.

We just happened to be passing a local golf course in that moment, pulled into the parking lot, walked over to the fence line through the wet grass, and captured a photo. By the time we lowered our phone cameras and walked back to the car, the moment was gone.

A few minutes later, she was hopping out of the car at the high school, headed toward her busy week.

She looked back and said: “Love you, Mom.”

“I sang of leaves, of leaves of gold, and leaves of gold there grew.”
